Two people are nursing serious injuries at Bahati Sub County hospital following night attacks in Gituamba village in Subukia sub county.
According to the locals, the attacks were carried out by herdsmen from Baringo County who have been invading their farms with huge herds of cattle in search of pasture.
Bahati Sub County hospital’s superintendent Dr. John Ngari says the two who were admitted at the facility are positively responding to treatment.
“I can confirm that we received two male patients with serious injuries but they are positively responding to treatment”he said.
The residents are now calling upon the Ministry of interior and agriculture to ensure that their rights are safeguarded.
According to the locals, herdsmen started the behavior late last year and they are now increasing the number of cattle they have been grazing on their lands since grass has started sprouting.
They accused the administration in Bahati Sub County for not cooperating in safeguarding their agricultural crops whenever they have been alerted.
“The security team in this area is sleeping on their job even after we informed them”said James Njehia.
The Tuesday night attack has instilled more fear in them fearing that the incident might escalate since the herdsmen are now grazing while armed with bows and arrows.
