The Nairobi based Sonko Rescue Team yesterday, Monday landed in Nakuru to assist in the two tragedies that hit Nakuru over the weekend.
A division of the team has been assisting in the rescue efforts in the building that came down in the Nakuru CBD. A section of the building, Muko House along the busy Mburu Gichua Road came tumbling down on Sunday trapping some residents inside.
The other part of the Sonko Rescue Team comprising of divers is at Lake Nakuru National Park where they are assisting in trying to recover the bodies of three of the victims who perished in a chopper crash in the early mornings of Saturday morning. Bodies of two out of five passengers in the ill-fated chopper have been recovered.
The Sonko Rescue Team which is part of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko CSR has attracted a lot of interest in Nakuru Town. A huge crowd has been hanging around the area where the building came down to witness the rescue team in action.
