Professionals from the Illchamus community have offered to cater for the medical expenses of SIX year old Senteiyo Kateiya who survived in the Monday’s banditry attack in Mukutani Baringo county in which ten people were killed.
According to medics,the 6 years old is set to be transferred from Nakuru to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
Senteiyo who was admitted at Nakuru level five on Wednesday after she was rejected at St. Marys Hospital Gilgil for lack of an initial admission fee of Shs. 20,000 is however out of danger.
According to the Nursing Officer in-charge of the Hospital Alphaxard Kemboi, after she was brought in by Kenya Red Cross paramedics, she was quickly attended to whereby the girl had two bullet wounds on the skull and chest but she is now stable.
This even as relatives of the young girl whose mother was shot dead alongside her two children surrounded bed number 36 ward 14 to console with her uncle Benjamin Oleparkitore who saved the child immediately after the attack.
“Seven of my relatives were among the ten who were killed on Monday.I call on the government to beef up security in the area and also provide humanitarian aid to the affected people currently camping at Ol dume trading centre” said Benjamin.
Meanwhile, he faulted He faulted the management of St. Marys Hospital for failing to admit the child considering that it was an emergency case.
Wife to Baringo governor Benjamin Cheboi Dr. Emmy Chesire Cheboi who visited the child at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital condemned the ongoing attacks in Baringo.
The Baringo County First Lady appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and save the situation adding that women and children are the ones who have suffered the most since the attacks begun.
“It is so regrettable that was it not for quick intervention of Rift valley Regional co-ordinator Wanyama Musiambo and security officers, a mass attack would have occurred on Wednesday in Ol dume where over 250,000 women and children are camping” she said.
She lauded the Kenya Red Cross society for delivering humanitarian aid to the affected families adding that the government through the line ministry should also move with speed and deliver more food supplies to the affected families.
