Nominated senator Martha Wangari has come out to refute claims that she is using proceeds from a women groups fundraiser she organized in Gilgil in August to fund her campaigns.
Speaking in Elementaita, Wangari said that Shs 2.4 million that was raised during the harambee has been used to purchase tents and chairs for various women groups in Gilgil constituency.
“I want to caution those going around with propaganda that I have used proceeds from the Harambee I organized for groups in Gilgil. The money raised during the harambee has been used to purchase tents and chairs for various women groups in Gilgil constituency”said Wangari.
She said that her political opponents have been peddling lies in order to cast her in bad light.
Wangari pointed out that about three women groups that have not benefited from the tents will be sorted in due course.
While calling on political leaders to avoid indulging in abusive politics, Wangari who has shown an interest in Gilgil Parliamentary seat said that it was too early for leaders to start engaging in campaigns while there was still time to serve members of the public.
