Property worth millions destroyed in two fire incidents in Nakuru

More than 20 houses were on Tuesday morning razed down by fire at Bondeni and Kivumbini estates in Nakuru town east- Sub County.

The houses caught fire shortly after 7.00am According to eyewitnesses the fire at Bondeni estate was caused by an electric fault while the cause of the fire at Kivumbini estate could not be immediately established.

Isa Gichangi a former civic leader in the area said that there was need for power provider Kenya power to carry out an inspection of the wiring in the estate because many power lines supplying power to the estate are hanging dangerously.

“We are appealing to power provider Kenya power to carry out an inspection of the wiring in the estate because many power lines supplying power to the estate are hanging dangerously” he said.

And although Nakuru county fire brigade arrived shortly after the fire started, a victim Mr. Rashid Wanjala said that there was need to increase the number of fire fighting engines in the county.

No one was injured during the two incidents although property worth millions of shillings was destroyed.
