Petty thief nabbed in Nakuru Town

This middle-aged man’s forty days as a thief came to an end yesterday after he was nabbed and almost beaten to death by angry wananchi.

The man who is said to have been stealing from business people in town had entered business premises within a mall and taken off with two mobile phones before the proprietor raised the alarm.

“I had just stepped out of the shop leaving the two mobile phones on the reception. I sensed that someone had entered the shop behind my back and when I turned, I saw someone come out running and that’s when I raised the alarm,” said the young lady whose phones had been stolen.

Other business people and shoppers were alerted by the shouts and the thief who had stolen from the first floor of Lydia Arcade building along Kenyatta Avenue was nabbed before he could exit the building.

“This is not the first time the thief has been to this building. Several other people have also lost their phones and even a laptop was stolen sometimes back,” said another business lady.

The security personnel and other people who interrogated the thief say he claimed to have been engaging in crime to take care of his wife who was suffering from stomach ulcers.
