Nakuru Gubernatorial Aspirant John Mututho has come out strongly to defend his choice of Running mate in the 2017 general elections.
Addressing media in Nakuru on Friday, Mututho said he landed on the lady Maureen Chebet as a running mate since she is a youth from Kuresoi-undeveloped area and can also drive the youth agenda.
“My agenda is transformational change in society and when I chose the youthful Maureen as my running mate people ridiculed me that I was looking for a wife but thus not the case. I believe in Youth and helping them meet their standards through empowerment” he said.
At the same time, Mututho slammed at incumbent Governor Kinuthia Mbugua regime for what he termed a government that has no Youth agenda.
He reiterated that Mbugua’s regime failed to cater for direct or indirect employment opportunities to the youths who are majority and who can shape the economy of the county.
“Kinuthia’s Government is government of the mighty only while the poor are suffering. He failed to cater for youth agenda and thus why we need leaders who can accommodate the youths” he said.
On her part,Maureen said she is ready for the task adding that her main agenda is to see a transformed society with youth and women agenda taken into considerations.
“I am an orphan and I understand how it feels growing up in difficulties so am ready for the task and my agenda is to see that woman and that child or youth in society having good transformed lives” she said.
The two called on the Nakuru residents to re-think and not elect leaders based on how much wealth they have but rather the heart to serve the humanity.
