Mudavadi hits out on leaders frustrating Tea farmers

Amani National Congress-ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at a section of leaders who are pushing to have Tea factories as parastatals denying farmers the ownership.

Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday Mudavadi said while he served as Agriculture Minister way back he pushed for the passage of a law allowing Tea farmers to have the ownership of factories and that a move to change the same is ill advised.

While citing the huge corruption cases facing parastatals such as Pyrethrum, National Cereals and Produce Board as well Maize, the ANC leader said such cannot be allowed again in the tea sector.

“We have seen people loot parastatal such as pyrethrum, NCPB and they want now to turn to Tea.This is serious and we cannot allow such” said Mudavadi.

While citing the huge public debt that is facing Kenya, Mudavadi who once served in the finance docket stated that time is now to rectify the crisis through collective effort in the fight against corruption.

He called on the opposition to continue playing their oversight role in ensuring smooth governance.“Kenya is now in a pool of debts and time is now that we work together to see on how this can be solved collectively” said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi who has declared his interest in the 2022 Presidential race, once again called on Kenyans to shun divisive politics but rather ensure cohesiveness of purpose.
