Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria Wairimu has appealed to Education CS Dr.Fred Matiang’i to take stern measures against school heads involved in charging high fees contrary to the law.
Speaking on Tuesday at St.Teresa Primary school during the disbursement of over 500 NG-CDF Bursary Forms, the Legislator noted that despite the Government efforts to make every child get education, some individuals were out to derail the move.
“Principals in the schools especially those whom we are sponsoring through NG-CDF bursary should not try to interfere by charging high fees. We have asked the Cabinet Secretary for Education Dr.Fred Matiang’i who is doing a great job that stern action should be taken against these heads” he said.
MP David Gikaria also warned parents who have a tendency of taking the NG-CDF Bursary Forms and selling them to other individuals that they will face the law if apprehended.
According to the outspoken legislator, some parents have a tendency of taking Bursary forms and selling them to other individuals, an issue he warned will be dealt with accordingly and that parents should desist from such behaviors.
“To our parents, please don’t take these forms and sell them to others who are not needy. These funds are meant to help the needy in society and not just everyone so if found the law will take up on you” he said.
The Legislator also appealed to the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) as well as the County Government to ensure they support education through their kitty to ensure every child gets quality education no matter the background.
Since its establishment, the fund has benefited a lot of needy students in various constituencies who could not afford to pay school fee.
