The Nakuru County Youth week is set to be held late this month according to Mr. Phillip Ng’ok the president of the Nakuru Youth Bunge. The event that will kick off on 20th September will go on for a whole week with a raft of activities planned.
“The event will officially kick off on Monday the 20th with a round the county tour in the four sub-counties around Nakuru Town. We will tour the other sub-counties in the following two days following a route map that is being prepared by the administrators as we speak,” Ng’ok revealed to the writer from his office at Gate House.
A cultural event will be held at the Nakuru Players Theater on the 25th where awards to youth individuals and groups who have shown exemplary behavior in various categories will be given. There are a total of sixteen awards to win from including leadership, enterprise, health and environment among others. Different learning institutions will have a chance to show case cultures from the different major communities living in Nakuru.
The last two days of the event will involve a street festival and exhibitions from different youth groups and individuals. Several streets will be temporarily closed for this in the two days that the street festival will be taking place.
“I beseech all young people in Nakuru to make an effort and attend the event at least. This is by youth and for all the youth in Nakuru County,” said Ng’ok.
