Elderly woman found murdered in Menengai East Ward, Nakuru

An elderly woman was this morning found dead in Menegai East Ward. The unidentified woman of about 55 years was discovered this morning having been stoned to death.

“She seems to have been raped and then stoned to death,” says an eyewitness who was at the scene.

“Her dress was badly torn and even the position of her lower limbs suggest she may have been sexually abused before she was killed,” adds the eyewitness.

The early morning incidence attracted a huge crowd from the area. None of those who came to the scene could identify the woman sparking speculations that she was new there. Among those who attended were the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) for Menengai East and Kiamaina wards.

The Menengai Ward MCA, Wilson Mwangi in whose area the crime occurred has promised to beef up security by installing light masts. The woman was found at Mariakani Estate in Menengai Ward.

The MCA has requested residents to be sharing security concerns with the authorities. He has also assured them that they are working hard to replace the police vehicle after the previous was involved in an accident.

The Kiamaina Ward MCA Wahome Jambo Kenya has asked the residents to take security as a personal responsibility.

“Security starts with each one of us. Even if we provide these security lights and people are not sharing information, we won’t achieve much. If you see someone or something suspicious, report to someone you can trust. You can share with the elected leaders, the police, Nyumba Kumi members or any other person in authority,” advised MCA Wahome.

The two leaders have also appealed to bodaboda riders in the area to work closely with the police.

“To the bodaboda riders. You see a lot in the line of your duty. you also hear a lot and we would really appreciate if you would be more vigilant and share any suspicious ongoings with us,” said one of the MCAs.

The body of the woman was collected by the police.
